Maui, Hawaii September 19, 2011 – It is not a lonely planet any longer.
With the initial release of Wandrous, a new travel publication platform for Android devices, anyone can author location-aware destination guides and share them with the globetrotting public. Serving as a trip authoring tool, a daily personal assistant, and a global publishing platform, Wandrous integrates the most useful mobile travel functions while expanding the range of communication opportunities for travel professionals and enthusiasts alike.
For Travel Book authoring, Wandrous supports the instant creation of location-based places and stories using any Android device equipped with GPS and camera. Authoring is supported either by typed input or by speech, using the Wandrous Voice Assistant. Every place can include text descriptions, photos and audio clips. Places are readily assembled into voice-guided trips, and trips collected into Travel Books. Each book can be shared with other Wandrous users, either by email or by uploading to the Wandrous Store.
The Wandrous Store catalog includes the "Maui’s Road to Hana" Travel Book. This voice-assisted, Android GPS guide to one of the world’s most famous drives covers both the main and the "back road" with more than 30 unique and hard-to-find places. The Wandrous notification system ensures that visitors can keep their eyes on the road while still receiving timely guidance. The GPS guide does not require a cell phone connection, and provides valuable information while on remote parts of the Hana Highway. And, as with all Wandrous Travel Books, users can add their own stories, photographs, and audio clips.
Wandrous records trip logs automatically, including starting and stopping places, total time, distance traveled, and average speed. Both Imperial and metric measurements are supported. Trip logs may be exported for use in other applications.
For daily life, Wandrous is a location-aware personal assistant. To help manage spending in these challenging times, expenses may be recorded and associated with both a payee and a place. Each expense record can be assigned a category, amount and description, and may be flagged as business or personal. Expense records may be exported for use in accounting applications.
For hands-free ease of use, expenses may be recorded using the Wandrous Voice Assistant.
The Wandrous personal assistant also includes a diary for instant creation of memoranda, either by typing or speech input. Diary entries may contain audio clips.
Wandrous may be downloaded either from the Android market or from the Amazon App Store. For more information visit http://wandrous.com.
